Duke LifePoint, Wilson Medical Center Seek to Form Joint Venture

Wilson (N.C.) Medical Center has signed a memorandum of understanding to form a joint venture with Brentwood, Tenn.-based Duke LifePoint Healthcare, according to a report from The Wilson Times.

Wilson and Duke LifePoint would share ownership and governance of the hospital under the terms of the partnership, with Duke LifePoint securing majority ownership interest, according to the report.

Potential benefits for Wilson include access to Duke’s clinical, quality and patient-safety programs, as well as access to LifePoint’s capital and operational resources, according to the report.

Wilson Medical Center, a 294-bed facility, is the only hospital located in Wilson County. Duke LifePoint is a joint venture between Duke University Health System in Durham, N.C., and LifePoint Hospitals in Brentwood.
