Under the deal, Duke LifePoint acquired Central Carolina Hospital, a 137-bed facility in Sanford, N.C., and Frye Regional Medical Center, a 355-bed hospital in Hickory, N.C. The transaction also included 19 regional physician practices.
As part of the acquisition, Duke LifePoint will maintain all services provided by the hospitals and hire all eligible Central Carolina and Frye Regional employees.
Regarding the transaction, John Orgain, chair of the Frye Regional governing board, said, “Being part of Duke LifePoint’s network gives us the opportunity to grow our hospital and continue our efforts to advance healthcare services in the communities we serve and be a significant part of an effort to enhance healthcare across North Carolina.”
