Community Hospital board considers joining Centura Health

The board of Grand Junction, Colo.-based Community Hospital has entered into a formal agreement to discuss the possibility of joining Centennial, Colo.-based Centura Health, according to The Business Times.

Chris Thomas, president and CEO of Community Hospital, said joining Centura would allow the hospital to relieve debt, implement a new EHR or gain funding for new service lines.

"We want to make sure there’s a Community Hospital in our community for years to come," said Mr. Thomas.

Under the formal agreement, Community Hospital and Centura will explore what a partnership would look like and finalize an agreement within 120 days.

"As a healthcare provider who is as mutually passionate about treating the whole patient —  mind, body and spirit — we appreciate the opportunity to discuss becoming an integral part of their flourishing communities," said Peter Banko, president and CEO of Centura Health.
