The health system’s year-to-date budget deficit is a result of declining patient volumes, and hospital officials are eyeing work hours reductions, early retirements, hiring only for “mission-critical” roles and other measures as a means to fill that gap.
Although Memorial Health is not considering layoffs right now, they may be possible in the future, according to the report.
