The sale, which is expected to close in March, would mark CHS’ exit from West Virginia. The health system operates 79 acute-care hospitals and more than 1,000 other sites of care across the country.

Vandalia Health, the parent company of Charleston Area Medical Center, also acquired Greenbrier Valley Medical Center — a 122-bed facility in Ronceverte, W.Va. — from CHS for $85 million on Jan. 1

The move comes more than two years after CHS announced the completion of a hospital divestiture program that reduced its hospital count from 206 to 79 today, according to the Nashville Business Journal.

Terms of the Plateau transaction have not been disclosed.
