Community Health Systems Acquires Memorial Health Systems’ Assets in Pennsylvania

Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems has announced that its subsidiaries have acquired most of the assets of York, Pa.-based Memorial Health Systems.

Memorial Health includes 100-bed Memorial Hospital in York, Pa., the Surgical Center of York and other outpatient and ancillary services. According to the release, the purchase agreement includes a commitment to construct a replacement hospital within five years of the deal’s closing date. With this acquisition, Memorial Hospital becomes the 17th Community Health Systems-affiliated hospital in Pennsylvania.
