Ardent Health Services previously offered $69.8 million for the system and pledged an addition $70 million to upgrade its facilities.
CHS visited Forum in late July, and made its offer just a day before Forum is scheduled to close the bidding process.
Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray recently approved the Ardent acquisition, but the new bid makes the future of the three-hospital health system less certain.
