Cheyenne Regional Medical Center declares intent to affiliate

The board of trustees of Cheyenne (Wyo.) Regional Medical Center unanimously voted Friday to advise the county board of commissioners to release a formal proposal to larger healthcare systems notifying them of the medical center’s intent to form an affiliation.

To guide the process, Patrick Madigan, interim CEO of CRMC, will continue in his position until the medical center settles on an affiliate.

“We determined this direction after carefully considering our strategic goals and identifying objectives that would be best advanced with this form of affiliation,” said Bill Larson, chairman of the board of trustees for CRMC. “Increasing competition, recruiting and retention challenges, decreasing reimbursements from public and private payers and concerns about uncompensated care could make it difficult in the future to remain a viable health system without the benefits of an affiliation with a larger system.”
