BroMenn and Advocate signed a letter of intent to merge in Dec. 2008, which was extended in April.
Advocate approached BroMenn about the merger as part of the system’s desire to expand operations outside of the greater Chicago area, according to the report.
The two health systems are expected to finalize their agreement within 30 days.
