Atlantic Health System expands reach in New Jersey

A New Jersey Superior Court judge has approved Morristown, N.J.-based Atlantic Health System's acquisition of Hackettstown (N.J.) Regional Medical Center, according to the Morristown Patch.

Atlantic agreed to purchase the 111-bed hospital from Gaithersburg, Md.-based Adventist HealthCare in 2014, and it took more than two years to finalize the acquisition.

The judge's decision marks the last regulatory step in the process, and the organizations expect the transaction to close in the next few weeks, according to the report.

Hackettstown Regional Medical Center will be Atlantic's sixth hospital in New Jersey.
