Pending the signing of a definitive agreement and other approvals, hospital leaders expect the transaction will close by the end of this January. Financial details were not disclosed. Aspirus leaders said all Northstar employees will retain their positions, pay levels and benefits.
Aspirus comprises six hospitals. In addition to being Aspirus’ seventh hospital, Northstar, a 25-bed critical access hospital, would become the system’s fourth in Michigan. The other three are in Wisconsin.
Northstar CEO Connie Koutouzos did not give specific reasons as to why the hospital chose to seek an affiliation partner, but she said the deal “will secure our future in providing quality healthcare to our community as well as allow us to expand and improve services.”
