As part of the agreement, Amy Schultz, MD, director of prevention and community health at Allegiance would serve as part-time medical director for the county health department.
Michigan requires health department medical directors in counties with a population less than 250,000 to work at least 16 hours per week at the department. Jackson’s current medical director is shared with another county and only works 12 hours per week at the Jackson department. If the new partnership is completed, each physician would work 8 hours per week for the Jackson health department, allowing the department to meet the 16-hour requirement.
