Fredrick Teixeira, MD, an internal medicine physician has said he will end his relationship with the hospital if it affiliates with CHS. The board of the hospital approved an affiliation with Franklin, Tenn.-based CHS, despite a recommendation from its medical staff to affiliate with Greenville, N.C.-based University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina.
“I’m not willing to work for CHS because I don’t think it’s the best thing for the patients I serve,” he said.
The BRHS board’s approval serves as a recommendation to the Beaufort County Board of Commissioners, who have final say in the matter.
