81-bed Alabama hospital to join UAB Health System

Alexander City, Ala.-based Russell Medical will become part of the Birmingham, Ala.-based UAB Health System.

Under the management agreement, UAB Health will assist with business operations at Russell Medical, including supply chain logistics, revenue cycle management and compliance issues. UAB will also help with physician recruiting and staffing. 

A UAB Health System also will be appointed to Russell Medical’s board.

Russell Medical said the relationship will allow it to better use its programs service and resources to serve the community. The 81-bed hospital still will be owned by its parent company Medical Park Inc., and staff won’t see changes to benefits or salaries, according to a company news release.
