4 things to know about Tift Regional Health System’s acquisition of Georgia clinic, ASC

Tift Regional Health System in Tifton, Ga., has acquired Georgia Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Clinic in Tifton as well as its ambulatory surgery center, according to a report published by The Tifton Gazette.

Here are four things to know about the transaction.

1. With the transaction, Tift now employs the practice’s three general orthopedic surgeons, one orthopedic spine specialist, five physician assistants, one nurse practitioner and office support staff, according to the report.

2.   Georgia Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Clinic is now named Georgia Sports Medicine, while the practice’s ambulatory surgery center, formerly known as Tiftarea Surgical Partners, is now called the Tift Regional Outpatient Surgery Center.

3. TRHS president and CEO William T. Richardson spoke positively of the transaction in the report. Mr. Richardson said Georgia Sports Medicine “provides a vital role in the care of our community,” and the transaction “will result in a greater continuity of care in this era of the Affordable Care Act.”

4. In addition to Georgia Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Clinic (now named Georgia Sports Medicine), TRHS owns South Georgia Surgical, Affinity Clinic, Affinity Pediatrics, Affinity Hospital Medicine, Allure Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Arthritis and Osteoporosis Center of South Georgia, Tift Regional Pain Management Center, WorkSmart Occupational Health and a number of primary care outreach clinics located throughout south central Georgia.
