3 Maryland Hospitals Announce Discussions to Pursue Potential Alliance

Frederick (Md.) Regional Health System, Meritus Health in Hagerstown, Md., and Western Maryland Health System in Cumberland, Md., have signed a memorandum of understanding to enter into strategic discussions for an affiliation.

According to the report, the proposed alliance would provide a sound business structure for the three organizations to develop new services and improve infrastructure in order to manage healthcare reform and financial pressures.

The three organizations will perform a study with Berkeley Research Group to explore the feasibility and merits of an affiliation.
