Illinois regulators gave Prime Healthcare approval to acquire its 55th hospital, and an Indiana hospital signed a letter of intent to become Parkview Health’s 16th hospital. Here are three hospital M&A moves Becker’s reported during the week of April 13:
1. Little Rock, Ark.-based Baptist Health reached a definitive agreement to acquire 25-bed Magnolia (Ark.) Regional Medical Center. The deal, subject to customary regulatory approvals, is expected to be completed by July 12.
The agreement comes just over a month after Baptist reached a deal to acquire 151-bed El Dorado-based South Arkansas Regional Hospital. That acquisition is expected to be completed June 14.
If both deals are approved, the hospitals would become the 13th and 14th operated by Baptist.
2. Lebanon, Ind.-based Witham Health Services signed a nonbinding letter of intent to join Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Parkview Health.
The 60-bed independent county hospital said the decision to join Parkview comes after consideration by its board of trustees and executive leadership. Witham President and CEO Kelly Braverman said that by joining Parkview, it can expand services and enhance clinical capabilities.
If approved, Witham would become Parkview’s 16th hospital.
3. The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board approved Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare’s acquisition of Franciscan Health Olympia Fields (Ill.).
The 214-bed hospital is expected to transition to Prime on May 1 and will become Prime’s ninth hospital in the state. The system acquired eight hospitals from St. Louis-based Ascension in March 2025.
Olympia Fields will also become Prime’s 55th hospital overall.
