Valley Medical Center in Renton, Wash., is a public district hospital serving communities in southeast King County. The facility formed a strategic alliance with University of Washington Medicine in Seattle in 2011.

6. In 2011, the hospital performed 5,000 inpatient surgeries, 11,800 outpatient surgeries, 3,000 births and 79,000 outpatient visits, according to American Hospital Directory.  

7. In 2011, Valley Medical Center earned a three-year accreditation from The Joint Commission.

8. Valley Medical Center was established in 1947.

9. In 2012, Valley Medical Center was named one of the best hospitals in the Seattle metro area and in Washington state by U.S. News & World Report.

10. Valley Medical Center is a Level III trauma center.
