Unity Hospital in Fridley, Minn., is an acute-care hospital serving residents of more than 25 communities in the surrounding area.  

Here are 10 things to know about Unity Hospital.     

1. Lori Wightman serves as president.

2. Lisa Anderson serves as vice president, finance.

3. The hospital has 220 beds.

4. The hospital has 1,292 total employees.  

5. In 2011, the hospital performed 3,100 inpatient surgeries, 4,600 outpatient surgeries and 1,300 births and had 29,900 outpatient visits, 20,600 non-admitted emergency department visits and 11,100 admitted emergency department visits.  

6. In 2011, the hospital recorded $617.9 million in gross charges and $18.1 million in net losses, according to the American Hospital Directory.

7. The hospital received a Patient Safety Excellence Award from Healthgrades in 2013.  

8. Unity Hospital was founded in 1966 by the North Suburbs Hospital District.

9. The first baby born at Unity Hospital was measured with a tape measure borrowed from the maintenance staff, as the new hospital hadn't purchased one yet.   

10. In 2011, 498 hospital volunteers donated 45,900 hours of service.
