5. In 2011, the hospital had 6,500 inpatient surgeries, 25,200 outpatient surgeries, 3,400 births, 81,900 outpatient visits, 27,800 non-admitted emergency room visits and 15,200 admitted emergency room visits.  

6. In 2011, the hospital recorded $1.33 billion in gross charges and $26.7 million in net income, according to the American Hospital Directory.

7. The hospital earned the Gold Seal of Approval from The Joint Commission for Primary Stoke Centers and has an accredited Bariatric Center of Excellence.

8. Shawnee Mission Medical Center was founded in 1962 and became an affiliate of the Adventist Health System in 2002.

9. In 2010, the Diabetes Center was accredited by the American Diabetes Association for meeting the national standards for diabetes self-management education.  

10. According to the hospital's website, Shawnee Mission Medical Center delivers the most babies in Kansas City.
