Pratt Medical Group and Sentara Healthcare joined in 2015 to form Sentara Pratt Medical Group. However, officials said the organizations are going their separate ways after their individual goals were not realized or had changed, the report states.
Pratt Medical Group officials said patients will not see any changes in their care during the transition, which officials expect to finalize by mid-October. Providers’ hospital privileges at Mary Washington Hospital and Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center, both in Fredericksburg, will also remain intact.
A spokesperson for Sentara Healthcare told fredericksburg.com via email the 12-hospital system supports the group’s decision and will ensure providers and staff “are poised to continue to provide the comprehensive, high-quality care the community expects and deserves.”
This is the second time Pratt Medical Group has opted to break with its partner organization in favor of independence. The organization partnered with a healthcare company in 1998, but proceeded to split with the organization four years later, according to the report.
