Updated educational guidelines for physician assistants released

The Society of Emergency Medicine Physician Assistants updated its guidelines for best practices for physician assistants and their employers, according to an Oct. 6 Clinical Advisor interview with Ann Verhoeven, immediate past president of SEMPA.

Ms. Verhoeven said the structure and content of the guidelines remains largely unchanged, but there is more detail regarding recommendations for best practices for employers to ensure physician assistants receive adequate emergency medicine knowledge and experiences.

The updated guidelines also include recommendations regarding physician assistants in leadership positions and involvement in developing and maintaining best practices at their clinical sites.
