University Medical Center chooses DC physicians group to take over ER

Washington, D.C.-based University Medical Center selected The GW Medical Faculty Associates, also in Washington D.C., to oversee the hospital's emergency room, UMC officials said Sunday, according to The Washington Post.

UMC officials reportedly selected The GW Medical Faculty Associates, which maintains a close alliance with Washington D.C.-based The George Washington University Hospital, after an "extensive" search, according to the report.

Officials did not disclose details regarding the contract, and said the deal must still be finalized by the UMC board.

The hospital has experienced several patient care issues during the past year, including the temporary closing of its obstetrics ward in August.
