Here are five things to know about Dr. Comes and his career.
1. In addition to his leadership roles in the department of emergency medicine, Dr. Comes has also been named the Gene W. Kallsen, MD, Endowed Chair in Emergency Medicine.
2. He will continue to serve as chair of the emergency department at Fresno, Calif.-based Community Regional Medical Center and as a clinical professor of emergency medicine at UC San Francisco Fresno.
3. Dr. Comes earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia-based University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine.
4. Along with his leadership and teaching positions, Dr. Comes is also a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and serves as an examiner for the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
5. Dr. Comes will be succeeding Greg Hendey, MD, as chief of the emergency medicine department and as endowed chair.
