UC Riverside medical school receives full accreditation from LCME

UC Riverside School of Medicine garnered full accreditation from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education June 8, according to The Press-Enterprise.

The designation is the final step in the school’s initial accreditation process following its opening four years ago. The school was forced to delay its opening by one year after it failed its first accreditation effort in 2011.

Officials said the school will undergo the accreditation process again in 2022.

UC Riverside School of Medicine Dean Deborah Deas, MD, told the publication the timing of the accreditation approval made the decision “even more thrilling … We [will be able to] celebrate this accomplishment together at commencement with our inaugural graduating class and with the community.”
