U of Florida Health Jacksonville appoints Dr. Leon Haley Jr CEO

 
The board of directors of University of Florida Health Jacksonville named Leon L. Haley Jr., MD, dean of the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville, CEO of the hospital Sept. 25.

Here are four things to know about Dr. Haley.

1. Dr. Haley’s appointment as CEO will be effective Jan. 1. He will also continue in his role as dean of the medical school.

2. As dean of the institution since January 2017, he has overseen the completion of several projects at the medical school, including the creation of an inpatient unit at UF Health North, a 92-bed hospital in Jacksonville.

3. Prior to his tenure as dean of the medical school, Dr. Haley served in a number of leadership roles at Emory Healthcare, the Emory School of Medicine and Grady Health System, all in Atlanta.

4. He completed his undergraduate degree at Providence, R.I.-based Brown University and earned his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
