As part of the deal, RAS shareholder physicians will join Sutter Medical Group. According to a Sacramento Business Journal report, RAS has 60 shareholder physicians in specialties such as diagnostic radiology, interventional and neurointerventional radiology, radiation oncology and nuclear medicine.
“Sutter Medical Group welcomes the addition of Radiological Associates of Sacramento’s long-standing, respected community physicians,” Christine Griger, MD, president and CEO of SMG, said in the news release. “This broadened team of clinicians will work collaboratively to provide a comprehensive range of services on which we hope to expand in the future.”
However, 14 other physicians in RAS’ multispecialty division will not join SMG and will lose their jobs because of the deal, according to the Sacramento Business Journal.
