Here are three things to know:

1. UAMS confirmed Dr. Morgan’s inability to renew his license to KATV News June 7. Dr. Morgan was named director of the Little Rock, Ark.-based Myeloma Institute in 2014.

2. It is unclear why the state medical board refused to renew Dr. Morgan’s medical license. However, in a statement to the television station, UAMS noted complaints had been filed against Dr. Morgan in 2016 regarding his alleged “inappropriate comments” and “bad behavior.”

“We do not tolerate inappropriate comments or other bad behavior by faculty and staff at UAMS and take allegations such as these very seriously,” a UAMS spokesperson said. “When accusations were made in 2016 about Dr. Morgan’s behavior, we followed our policies and the normal review process which included a review of the allegations by a committee of his peers, and interviews with human resources of Dr. Morgan and other Myeloma employees. Dr. Morgan also was counseled by human resources and underwent a focused professional practice evaluation. No further allegations have been made.”

3. The spokesperson said UAMS administrators do not agree with the medical board’s decision and will support Dr. Morgan as he seeks to renew his license.
