Seattle opens primary care clinic dedicated to treating firefighters

Seattle firefighters will now have access to a comprehensive primary care program at a clinic dedicated specifically to their profession.

The clinic's grand opening is slated for Thursday. It is the result of a successful three-year collaboration between the Seattle Fire Department, Seattle Fire Fighters HealthCare Trust, the local firefighters' union and Qliance, a membership-based primary care company in Seattle.

The clinic will provide a unique blend of traditional primary care and services tailored to firefighters' needs, such as in-house fitness evaluations, physical therapy and rehabilitation services.

"Firefighters are regularly exposed to unique and devastating health risks and suffer from alarming rates of cancer, heart disease, PTSD, suicide, infectious disease and musculoskeletal injuries at rates far beyond the general public," reads a statement announcing the clinic's grand opening.
