Orthopedic group splits from Mount Sinai

Cedarhurst, N.Y.-based South Island Orthopedics is ending its affiliation with New York City-based Mount Sinai Health System, according to Crain's New York

The orthopedic practice will instead join Health Plus Management Group, which provides nonmedical, administrative operations support for physician-owned practices. 

Health Plus is owned by InvestCorp, a private equity firm.

Eric Freeman, MD, who leads the practice, said the decision to end its affiliation with Mount Sinai was mainly because he missed running his own practice.
