Police discovered the body of Ravindra Rajmane, MD, the chief of pulmonology at the hospital, in the bedroom of his apartment shortly before 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, the report states. Several glassine envelopes with heroin residue were also reportedly found near his body.

Authorities said a worried coworker visited Dr. Rajmane’s building Tuesday after learning he hadn’t shown up for work at the hospital since Friday.

The medical examiner’s office is slated to perform a full autopsy to determine Dr. Rajmane’s exact cause of death, according to the report.

Dr. Rajmane’s biography had been scrubbed from the hospital’s website as of 11:15 a.m. Thursday.

A spokesperson for NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn declined to comment to Becker’s Hospital Review about Dr. Rajmane’s death.
