Three details:

  1. The partnership makes Nicklaus Children’s the only pediatric academic hospital in South Florida, according to a Feb. 13 news release
  2. Nicklaus Children’s will serve as the exclusive pediatric teaching hospital for FIU’s medical school. Physicians from Nicklaus Children’s medical group will also be eligible for faculty roles in the college’s pediatrics department.
  3. The collaboration aims to address the nationwide shortage of pediatricians, which is expected to reach nearly 13,000 by 2037. The organizations plan to expand residency and fellowship programs to attract and retain pediatric specialists in the region.
