When the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Medicine opens in 2017, much of the physician faculty from the Reno medical school will teach in Las Vegas. Third-year and fourth-year students from Reno will also complete their clinical rotations in Las Vegas.
UNLV is currently undergoing the Liaison Committee on Medical Education’s accreditation process and hopes to open with 60 students by 2017.
Another Las Vegas-area medical school also hopes to gain accreditation. The Henderson, Nev.-based Roseman University of Health Sciences plans to open its College of Medicine by 2017 with an inaugural class of 60 students.
