According to a survey by the Oregon Health Authority and the Oregon Medical Association, 51 percent of Oregon physicians worked for a health insurer, health system or hospital in 2014. A comparable survey from 2012 found that 48.3 percent of Oregon physicians were employed.
Due to the increased number of employed physicians in Oregon, the OMA is redefining how it can better assist employed physicians, according to Bryan Boehringer, the OMA’s interim CEO.
The OMA currently has 8,000 members with an active membership of 5,000.
