Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine adds 11 to executive team

Pasadena, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine selected 11 new members for its leadership team.

The organization named seven deans:

● Senior associate dean for academic and community affairs: Maureen T. Connelly, MD, who was previously dean for faculty affairs at Boston-based Harvard Medical School.
● Senior associate dean for medical education: Abbas Hyderi, MD, who was most recently associate dean for undergraduate medical education at University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine.
● Senior associate dean for student affairs: Anne Eacker, MD, who was associate dean for student affairs and a practicing general internist at University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle.
● Associate dean for equity, inclusion and diversity: Walter D. Conwell, MD, who formerly served as physician director of diversity, equity and inclusion and medical director of sleep medicine and outpatient sleep diagnostics at Colorado Permanente Medical Group.
● Associate dean for assessment and evaluation: Carla Lupi, MD, who was previously associate dean for faculty at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine in Miami.
● Associate dean for admissions: Lindia Willies-Jacobo, MD, who most recently served as assistant dean for diversity and community partnerships at the University of California, San Diego.
● Interim senior associate dean for research and scholarship: Elizabeth McGlynn, PhD, who is vice president of Kaiser Permanente Research and executive director of the Kaiser Permanente Center for Effectiveness and Safety Research.

The organization also appointed:

● José M. Barral, MD, PhD, as chair of the department of foundational science.
● Paul Chung, MD, as chair of the department of health systems science.
● Michael Kanter, MD, as chair of the department of clinical science.

Additionally, the organization named Walter Harris senior vice president for administration and finance. Most recently, Mr. Harris served as senior associate dean for administration and operations and associate vice president for operations and COO at George Washington School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, D.C.

Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine named 13 members to its board of directors and tapped Mark A. Schuster, MD, PhD, as its founding dean and CEO last year.
