Kaiser makes Oregon physician ratings public

Portland, Ore.-based Kaiser Permanente Northwest has launched a public online database with patient ratings of more than 1,300 physicians, called Kaiser Permanente Real Reviews.

The move to make physician reviews public makes Kaiser Permanente Northwest the first physician group in Oregon to share this information with consumers.

"We know patients have choices, and often turn to the Internet for information about healthcare and physicians," Imelda Dacones, MD, CEO and executive medical director of Northwest Permanente, Kaiser Permanente's physician group, said in a statement. "We want to give them the most thorough and accurate picture possible as they make important decisions about which providers they'll choose. We have used Press Ganey reviews in our practice for years to improve our care, and now we think it is time we shared them openly with our patients."

Patients are able to view an overall rating out of five stars for each physician, as well as actual comments from other patients. See the database here.
