Heritage Medical Systems, Signature Medical Group form JV

Marina Del Rey, Calif.-based Heritage Medical Systems and St. Louis-based Signature Medical Group have formed a joint venture — Missouri Collaborative Healthcare — to improve population health management along Missouri's I-70 corridor.

The joint venture, which will be supported by Signature's physician network in St. Louis and Kansas City, Mo., will use Heritage's clinical model for population health management. In a statement, the groups said the newly formed company aims to provide physicians with more information and accelerated payments from insurers. These tools are meant to better equip physicians to provide more coordinated, preventive care.

"SMG's position as a leader in the movement toward value-based care is a perfect platform for the development of a population health initiative across Missouri," Jan Vest, CEO of Signature Medical Group, said in a press release. "Our experience developing a successful maternity home care model in Missouri and leading the nation's largest physician-led orthopedic bundled payment program are examples of our preparedness for this joint venture with Heritage. We're pleased and excited to be working with another national leader to be at the forefront of transforming the healthcare delivery system throughout Missouri."
