Health First finds 'speed dating' for physicians, patients a success

Health First, a Rockledge, Fla.-based integrated health system, is using an unconventional method to match physicians and patients. It hosted a "speed dating" event at a local country club called "The Doctor Is In," according to Florida Today.

The event aimed to connect consumers with Health First physicians for about five minutes each so consumers could find a primary care physician they feel comfortable with, rather than search online. According to the report, the event was so successful Health First is planning to host more next year.

"Usually you Google a doctor and then read a review for anything negative," said Drew Concelman, a 60-year-old retired information technology manager who found his primary care physician at the event, according to the report. "We got to actually meet a doctor before we made an appointment so it worked well. It was only five minutes. But five minutes is better than nothing."
