EmployerDirect selects Sonoma Valley Hospital to provide surgical services: 5 things to know

Sonoma (Calif.) Valley Hospital has signed an agreement to provide surgical services for Austin, Texas-based EmployerDirect, a company that helps large self-insured employers improve employee-planned medical procedures.

Here are five things to know about the agreement.

1. Sonoma Valley Hospital was selected for EmployerDirect's SurgeryPlus network, a supplemental surgical benefit for self-insured employers that directs employees' planned medical procedures to pre-qualified, high-quality providers and facilities across the country such as Sonoma Valley Hospital.

2. Under the agreement, Sonoma Valley Hospital and its contracted surgeons will provide elective surgeries for companies located in Northern California, Northern Nevada and Southern Oregon.

3. Specifically, Sonoma Valley Hospital will provide urology, gynecology, general, bariatric and orthopedic surgeries, among other services.

4. In a news release, Shane Foss, COO of EmployerDirect, said Sonoma Valley Hospital was chosen because it was one of the few hospitals in Northern California to meet all of the company's criteria. "Sonoma Valley Hospital is ranked high for quality of services, safety and patient care. It provides the range of surgical services we require and does so in an impressive new Surgery Center. It's also located in a desirable and accessible location for our patients," Mr. Foss added.

5. Kelly Mather, CEO of Sonoma Valley Hospital said in a news release the agreement will have a positive financial impact on the hospital by bringing in surgeries from outside of the hospital's area.
