Emerson Hospital to open 3 urgent care centers

Concord, Mass.-based Emerson Hospital plans to open three urgent care centers beginning next year, Wicked Local reports.

The first of the three centers will be located in Hudson, Mass., in a retail shopping center. The other two urgent care centers are slated to open in malls in Maynard and Littleton, Mass., according to the report. The hospital chose the locations after conducting an analysis of the communities it serves and pinpointing areas with fewer physician practices.

Hospital CEO Christine Schuster told Wicked Local the urgent care centers are meant to relieve emergency rooms of patients with minor illnesses and injuries, such as sore throats, simple fractures and minor burns. The centers will be open seven days a week and will offer walk-in appointments.
