By joining the BJC Collaborative, 300-bed Decatur Memorial Hospital can “tap into the best practices developed by the organization” and “combine purchasing to provide the latest technology and healthcare services” to its patients, a statement from the hospital read.
Although the hospital joined the collaborative under the sponsorship of Memorial Health System, Decatur Memorial Hospital remains an independent nonprofit organization, according to the report.
The BJC Collaborative was formed in October 2012 through the partnership of BJC Healthcare of St. Louis; Springfield, Mo.-based CoxHealth; Memorial Health System; and Kansas City, Mo.-based Saint Luke’s Health System. Quincy, Ill.-based Blessing Health System joined the BJC Collaborative in May 2013, Southern Illinois Healthcare in Carbondale joined in September 2013 and Sara Bush Lincoln Health System in Mattoon, Ill., signed on in November 2015.
