Miami Dade College and University of Miami (Fla.) partnered to grow the medical scholars summer program for disadvantaged students, Miami Herald reported Sept. 26
The summer program accepts 120 students each year and provides them with mentors. Mentors help students with scholarship applications, housing, meals and transportation stipends in preparation for medical school.
The program aims to increase the number of Hispanic and Black medical students.
