Here are 12 statistics about medical directors from Integrated Health Strategies' 2009 Medical Director Survey. The survey collected data from 160 organizations, 2,600 individual medical directors and 66 different medical director positions.

Contract requirements
1. Of the 160 organizations surveyed, 85.2 percent said they do have contracts with all of their medical directors, and 14.8 percent did not require contracts of all medical directors.

2. Here are the average contract lengths of the organizations that required contracts of all medical directors (note: a single organization could have more than one response):

  • 1 year — 57.1 percent
  • 2 years — 35.2 percent
  • 3 years or more — 42.9 percent
