Western Connecticut Health Network Announces 60 Layoffs

Western Connecticut Health Network, which includes Danbury (Conn.) Hospital and New Milford (Conn.) Hospital, announced it will lay off 60 employees, according to a News Times report.

Hospital officials said the layoffs were necessary due to the current economic climate and reduced federal and state reimbursements for hospital services. Connecticut's budget now includes taxes on hospital revenue, according to the report.

The hospital did not disclose which departments were affected by the layoffs.
