Three things to know:
1. The project, called “ArtBlock,” consists of 3,700 square feet of space and represents the health system’s biggest investment in public arts and education, according to the report. Officials said the goal of the space is to enhance the culture already thriving in the neighborhood.
2. The space will feature five public art installations, including two murals, and sculptures, among other art pieces. The interior of the building will be decorated by 10 graffiti artists, the report states.
3. A senior grant coordinator in Henry Ford’s development office told The Detroit News the project was made possible through a $200,000 grant from the Vera and Joseph Dresner Foundation.
“Henry Ford recognizes that health doesn’t happen only inside clinic doors. Health happens where we work, where we play and where we pray. … We believed that there was an opportunity to think about what that looks like just beyond our clinic doors in our community and to further engage with our neighborhood residents where we have been anchored in the community for so long,” the coordinator said.
