Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights, Pa., closed its 13-employee billing department last week. The system has also closed billing at Canonsburg General Hospital in North Strabane, Pa.

The system said the people formerly employed in billing will not necessarily be laid off, as they will be given opportunities to “explore other employment with the company,” according to a WPAHS spokesperson cited in the report.

All billing for WPAHS’ six hospitals will now be conducted at the system’s headquarters in downtown Pittsburgh.
