The Christus hospital has already had a smoking ban in place, but that policy only prohibited employees from smoking in women’s and children’s care areas. The new expanded policy, which goes into effect, now applies campus-wide.
Hospital officials say the new policy prevents toxins from cigarette smoke that collect in clothing fabric from negatively affecting pediatric patients.
