The convenience care clinics, designed for people with minor illnesses without primary care physicians or insurance, will operate under a partnership between Augusta Medical Group and a for-profit retailer. The clinics will treat patients for minor acute illnesses and provide some preventive care, including exams, immunizations and lab screenings. A “fixed-menu” pricing system will limit costs to less than $50 for each item, according to the report.

The urgent care clinic is designed to treat people with more serious illnesses or trauma who can still be treated on an outpatient basis.
