University of Miss. Medical Center leader of 21 years dies

Norman Nelson, MD, a former chancellor of Jackson-based University of Mississippi Medical Center, has died, according to MS News Now.

Dr. Nelson died April 21 at his home in Brandon, Miss. The cause of his death was not disclosed, according to the report. He was 86.

Dr. Nelson retired from his role in 1994 after 21 years. The medical school’s student union is named after him, according to the report.
