Jefferson County (Ky.) Attorney Mike O’Connell filed suit against the University of Louisville last week over its failure to turn over all documents he requested pertaining to the academic hospital’s proposed merger with the two Catholic hospitals, both owned by Catholic Health Initiatives.

In the suit, Mr. O’Connell claimed the documents are subject to public disclosure laws, but the university counters they are exempt from public disclosure.

As part of the proposed merger, which was originally announced in June, CHI pledged to provide $320 million to support the system’s mission and services.
